The TrekPod II is based on the original TrekPod design developed in 2004 by John Barker John C. Barker, a product designer and engineering veteran, and Tom McKasson, a computer-aided tools and methods expert. The founders identified a market need based on personal outdoor experience; a sturdy, lightweight, convenient, multi-purpose device with the functionality of both a tripod and trekking pole/hiking staff. The result is the TrekPod, a lightweight, height-adjustable walking/hiking staff, with a fully integrated tripod, and a quick-release, mount-demount system called MagMount. The unique product design incorporates the benefits of multiple functions without sacrificing the ability to be utilized in rough terrain, easily carried for great distances, or quickly assembled with a variety of optical devices. The TrekPod II is easy to assemble with just two sections; a lower center tube/leg section and upper, adjustable tube making it light weight and extremely strong. The TrekPod II telescopes from 47.0 to 63.1 as a hiking staff or monopod, and 43.3 to 59.4 as a tripod in just seconds. As a hiking staff the TrekPod II will support up to 200 lbs. And don't worry about wearing out the heavy duty feet; their user replaceable.

What makes mounting your HDSRL, camcorder, binoculars or spotting scope to the TrekPod II a breeze is its patented MagMount STAR ball head with its included MagAdapter STAR (Square Tooth Anti Rotation) or MagAdapter. Using a special rare earth magnet, the MagMount STAR ball head allows you to mount just about any camera or optical device up to 9.0 lbs. quickly and securely. As an added security feature, the MagMount STAR has a built-in safety lock to keep your gear in place. And when trekking, just mount the palm cover for extra comfort and safety.

To complete the system a travel case that's only 36.5 long; great for on the go!
